About us

At the heart of DustDog is a lifelong passion for building.

I grew up on a family farm in rural Kansas, where I learned early on that when something breaks, you fix it — and when something doesn’t exist, you make it. Whether to save time, save money, or just for the challenge, creating has always been second nature to me.

Over the years, I’ve built a little bit of everything: pottery and RC planes, dune buggies and a street rod. But for the past 40 years, my main focus has been building software. A few years ago, I added woodworking to the mix — starting like many others do, in a simple garage workshop.

When Kansas winters made the garage unbearable, I decided to move my shop into a large unfinished basement. That’s when I finally had to tackle the one thing I’d been putting off for too long: dust collection.

Like many woodworkers, I wanted a Nordfab system — the gold standard of dust collection. I admired its clean, modular design and purpose-built engineering. But the price of an industrial-grade system simply didn’t make sense for a home shop.

PVC seemed like the only affordable alternative, but after wrestling with the compromises of using plumbing fittings for dust collection, I knew there had to be a better way. That’s when I decided to build one.

DustDog was born from that need — a system that delivers the flexibility and performance of Nordfab at a price real woodworkers can justify.
